The Witcher S03
We head back to the Continent for the first act of the third season, the last before Henry Cavill's passage of the sword to Liam Hemsworth.

It’s time to return to the Continent. At the end of The Witcher S02, Geralt, Cirilla, and Yennefer were set to leave Kar Mohren to run from kings, queens, mages, and the Wild Hunt, all chasing the young princess of Cintra, and her powers granted by the Elder Blood.
This is where we find them, running for Ciri’s safety without a break. Henry Cavill holds the sword and grumpy attitude of the titular Witcher for the last time before he will pass both of them over to Liam Hemsworth. The trio is tailed by nasty fire sorcerer Rience (Chris Fulton, The Outlaw King) and by the Brotherhood, especially by Stregobor, played by Lars Mikkelsen (keeping the Danish brothers’ tradition of playing the villain, as his brother, Mads is playing the Nazi-Nasa nemesis of Harrison Ford in the titular fifth chapter of the world's most famous archaeologist adventures).
Redania’s Djikstra (Graham McTavish, House of the Dragon) is also plotting, to ensure that his King Vizimir II (Ed Birch, Cruella) acquires unlimited power over the North, by bringing Ciri to Redania. Djikistra is also in an alliance with fellow sorceress Filippa Eilhart, played by Cassie Clare (The Irregulars, The Sandman).
Cavill’s Geralt also steps out of all the grumpiness exhibited before, fully adopting the mantle of adoptive parent to Ciri, alongside Chalotra’s Yennefer. Ciri’s biological father, the White Flame, Emhyr van Eyers, emperor of Nilfgaard, played by Bart Edwards ( Peep Show, Domina) in the meantime continues his double quest: finding his daughters and crushing the Northern Kingdoms.
Edwards played the role of a threatening and powerful Emperor, no stranger to manipulations and bloodshed, but more complex, with an appreciation for the Elder Races not shared by the Northern kings and what seems to be also a genuine affection for his daughter, with the making of a nuanced villain.

Mages, kings, and queens are not the only one running in their search for Ciri, as the Wild Hunt, terrifyingly portrayed in the video game The Witcher III are also advancing.
More intrigue, more monsters, more political maneuvering, new characters and columns of the show since S01, as the quintessential Jaskier, played by Joe Batey, with his musical talent and role as a moral compass for the titular Witcher make for a great response from Netflix to the rising fantasy shows’ popularity. Cavill gets ready to leave in style, on his way to bringing Warhammer 40,000 to Amazon Prime viewers, as a star and producer both.
Great news! The Court of Appeal has ruled the British government’s Rwanda deportation plan unlawful. The government will appeal against the decision, but this ruling will empower organisations, charities working in the sector and all those who are fighting the good fight.
